1) Tell us about yourself and what do you do?
As an abstract artist, I navigate the realm of art with a unique and imaginative perspective. My artistic journey is an exploration of emotions, thoughts, and concepts that are often beyond the confines of traditional representation. I find inspiration in the abstract, and my work is a testament to the limitless possibilities of artistic expression.
My creative process often begins with introspection, a deep dive into the recesses of my mind and heart. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including persona experiences, the world around me, and even philosophical or existential ideas. These sources of inspiration become the foundation for my abstract compositions. I employ a wide range of techniques and mediums to bring my visions to life. My toolkit includes acrylics, oils, mixed media, and even digital platforms, depending on the effect I want to achieve. Each stroke of my brush or layering of color is deliberate and thought-provoking step in my creative journey.
2) Do you have any other interests and do they influence your creative works?
As an abstract artist deeply immersed in the realm of Japanese calligraphy-inspired art, I find myself irresistibly drawn to the elegant fusion of tradition and innovation. This unique blend of Eastern aesthetics and contemporary creativity provides the perfect canvas for my artistic exploration. Japanese calligraphy, known as "shodo," has long captivated my imagination with its profound cultural significance and exquisite visual poetry. Its marriage of minimalism, brushwork, and the intrinsic connection between artist, ink, and paper resonates deeply within my artistic sensibilities.
I am enamored by the art of creating expressive, fluid strokes using traditional sumi ink and calligraphy brushes, exploring the dynamics of movement, texture, and the balance between empty spaces and ink-saturated lines. These elements are more than just artistic tools; they serve as a language to convey emotions, ideas, and the essence of the moment.
In my abstract art, I take inspiration from the fluidity of shodo while allowing myself to transcend traditional boundaries. I embrace the essence of Japanese calligraphy but reinterpret it through the lens of contemporary abstraction. My work is a dance between spontaneity and control, creating an ever-shifting landscape of expression.
3) Do you have a dream project that you have always wanted to work on?
My dream project as an abstract artist is to create an art studio dedicated to the exploration and extraction of color from the natural world. This unique endeavor combines my passion for abstract art with a commitment to sustainability and a deep appreciation for the beauty found in nature's palette. It is a sanctuary for artists and nature enthusiasts alike. The studio's core concept is to create pigments exclusively from natural resources. These resources can include flowers, leaves, fruits, minerals, and even soil. The studio will emphasize eco-friendly, sustainable practices, and the colors extracted will be used exclusively in the creation of abstract artworks.
This dream studio represents a fusion of art, nature, and sustainability. It's a testament to the creative potential of the natural world and a commitment to preserving and celebrating the beauty found within it. Through this art studio, I hope to inspire a deeper connection with nature and promote the harmonious coexistence of art and the environment.
4) Have you collaborated with other artists and who would you like to work with?
Collaborating with other artists can be a profoundly enriching experience, fostering creative growth and the opportunity to explore new dimensions of artistic practice. In my case, it's wonderful that I have a special artistic partnership with my father, Pg Timbang bin Pg Hj Tuah. Working with a family member, especially a parent, brings a unique dynamic to the collaboration. The shared experiences and the bond between my father and me likely add depth and meaning to our collaborative artwork. This partnership can be a source of inspiration and support, as we both influence and complement each other's creative visions.
Collaborating with my father not only allows for a deeper connection but also provides an opportunity to bridge generational perspectives and styles. We can learn from each other, adapt different techniques, and merge our artistic voices into something that is greater than the sum of its parts. For next, I am eager to collaborate with graphic artists as I continue to explore and learn in the realm of digital art. My artistic journey has led me into the fascinating world of digital creativity, and I am captivated by the limitless possibilities it offers. I recognize that collaborating with graphic artists will not only enhance my skills but also provide a platform for mutual inspiration and artistic growth.
