1) Tell us about yourself and what you do
My name is Ibraheem, a self taught artist mainly focusing on portraits using pens and pencil. I’m currently studying in college and keeping art as a hobby or side project that I occasionally do.
2) How have your life experiences influenced your aesthetic style?
Growing up doodling and sketching left an impression without really realizing up until recently, whether it be at home or at class. Sketching eyes on my notes lead up to me being curious about drawing portraits which then also lead to me finding an art style that I enjoy creating and a big inspiration to it would be Junji Ito.
3) What did you have to develop, try or learn to create your works?
A lot of practice and patience, while understanding not to compare my art with others. Learning through instagram posts have been my main source of practice as well as youtube, where I first learned portraits, and being comfortable with my own aesthetic to have a rough idea on how the art would look before creating.
4) Describe your dream project
Exploring outside of portraits and incorporating colours would be a first, but to create pieces that can convey thoughts or emotions that I can't fully explain, as there are some moments that I can only describe vaguely.
5) What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell him to break out of the box, try out things that may seem difficult even if it meant failure and be more sure of yourself.
