1) Who are you? What’s your background?
My name’s Moka Chino and I’m a Freelance Digital Artist that draws Fan illustrations and does Character Creations for dungeons and dragon’s campaigns.
I have been drawing a lot since I was a kid and my first drawing is actually an imitation drawing from a comic panel like Doraemon and my interests are mostly Anime and manga comics. As I got older, I got seriously into it and started learning More about Art fundamentals and its Culture which I never heard of before at the beginning of my A ‘levels, which really piqued my curiosity on experimenting different kinds of art styles and its medium that would work best with my Artworks.
2) What does your work aim to say?
My art pieces are mostly reflecting my Mood in that moment, since painting is my main coping mechanism. I could just immerse myself in creating illustrations or doodles that I got inspired by either watching tv shows, playing video games or just watching the clouds outside the car window while listening to my Angst playlists. :)
I also enjoy hearing people’s interpretations of my work based on their own meaning too, maybe they saw them in a different perspective.
3) Who are your biggest influences?
oh ho, I have lots of artists that influence me since my art styles keep Changing, but my main three influences that I always looked up from the beginning, till this day are: -
J.C Leyendecker, German-American illustrator with his unique brushstrokes that use hard-edged parallel brushstrokes, which he often employs in a hatching fashion to add value and blend color.
Sachin Teng, a Taiwanese American illustrator with his phenomenal compositions and vibrant color pallets that make the subject of his art pieces pop out.
Tomm Moore,Irish animator known for his work on beautifully animated films like Song of the Sea (2014), The Secret of Kells (2009) and Wolfwalkers(2017), with each frame is just like one beautifully created illustration, as well as their character designs (folklores are one of my favorite themes).
4) How do you seek out opportunities?
The way I seek out opportunities is by promoting my art commissions services of different kinds (either Character designs or illustrations) in my social media. Aside from that, I join a lot of art events that’s available locally to showcase and sell my artworks and art merch, while meeting with a lot of fellow artists.
5) Which current art world trends are you following?
I guess I draw and study a lot of DND themes and lore these days since I am getting ready to prepare for my own DND game soon and I love drawing scenes that Happened during the campaign. Apart from that, I just doodles and make fanarts (currently into Virtual Youtubers lol) to avoid burnout.
6) Where do you see yourself 5 years?
Hopefully in 5 years, I strive to improve my social skills, and join a lot more events and exhibitions (locally and internationally) and maybe publish my own illustration artbook. I will probably keep learning art fundamentals non-stop and keep on experimenting new art styles that will improve my Art skills as a pro.
