1) Where are you from and how does that affect your work?
My name is Pg Timbang Bin Pg Hj Tuah and I am from Temburong, Brunei. What influences my work is that I am often invited to international art exhibitions. In addition to doing workshops with other great artists, these experiences can open our minds and allow us to share our thoughts with fellow artists.
2) Who are your biggest artistic influences?
My biggest influences come from fellow local and international artists. As artists, we must be confident and have our own identity and we should not follow the works of other people. Let everyone know who we truly are.
3) What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Never stop creating and always be open to experiment new ways to create art. Don't be afraid to ask questions from your fellow artists. Always be open to learn and listening to advice InsyaAllah you will succeed.
4) When is your favourite time of day to create?
For me, it would be any time of the day as long as we are focused and have a calm mind. Then we can truly focus on what we want to express in our works. My paintings are of the modern contemporary style inspired by my own thoughts and expression.
5) If you could change one aspect of our society through your work, what would it be?
I believe we can promote and sell our art in the country as long as we can afford to sell I and it should not be very expensive. This way, we would be able to let the public to get to know us better as artists.
6) What makes you happy as an artist?
What makes me happy as an artist is that we would be able to bring Brunei to international levels in the art scene. I am also very happy to now be able to be a full-time artist
