SAM SIREN

1) Tell us about yourself and could you tell us about your creative process?

I am Sam Siren, a self taught contemporary abstract artist. My works are mostly inspired by marine life, line movements and my synesthesia.

2) How would you define creativity?

Creativity is one's interpretation of truth, beauty and expression that is turned into their form of identity and individualism in their respective art.

3) If you are not in the field you are in now, what would you imagine yourself to be doing?

To be honest, I have dabbled in a few fields that are not art related, however I always find myself back to the art field and being absolutely utterly truthful here 🤣 I am very happy being in the art field and I can't imagine doing anything else. I found "myself" in art.

4) If your works are edible, what would they taste like?

I think it would be 3 course meal 🤣 starting off with a fresh salad with just olive oil and lemon zest, followed by a full blown hearty steak and to finish off either with a rock road ice cream or a raspberry mint sorbet.*

5) If you had the chance to live during a different artistic movement other than now, which one would you choose and why?

Nope, prefer the Present time, it's such an abundant time full of creativity and it's GORGEOUS! it's a tad vague but it's true, so much inspiration everywhere!

6) Are there any creative individuals who you admire the most?

Yes, locally is Pg Timbang and Pg Wahab Hassan. Their works, technique and colour movements are wonderful. Also works by @eryntology - Winnie Cheng, love her stencil works and meticulous details. Regan Tamanui, or known as HAHA, had the opportunity to share a studio with him back in Melbourne, Australia and his ambidexterity in cutting stencils always astounds me. Oh there so much more but I don't think the post would fit

7) What do you intend to achieve through your creative works?

Just create, create and create! If I had the opportunity to exhibit or showcase in the near future, it would be great or any opportunities that would expand my works to other forms like what I am doing with my scarves now, or like books etc I would. Overall, my intention is just to develop more as an artist. Breathe in art everyday and be art itself.
