1) Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

My name is AJ and I am from Brunei. I always have a love for art, film, music and dance, and it is my big sister who has inspired me to take the creative path.

2) Who are your biggest artistic influences?

My biggest inspiration influence is my big sister Hammy who has taught me to be the person and artist I am today. I am also inspired by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Edgar Degas, Glen Keane, Dave McKean and many more.

3) What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Be yourself and always be open to learn and create art out of life

4) When is your favourite time of day to create?

Any time of day is great to create and any time when I get inspired by music and experiences.

5) If you could change one aspect of our society through your work, what would it be?

To be more open and interact with others and to understand each other as human beings. With art, we can inspire others to be their true selves and achieve their dreams.

6) What makes you happy as an artist?

To be able to explore and express my feelings onto paper or canvas. And I’m always grateful to be able to meet fellow artists and to learn and be inspired by them.
