1) Who are you? what do you do?
Hi there, this is CheetArts! I mostly do digital illustrations but I'm always up for exploring other artistic mediums.
2) How have your life experiences influenced your aesthetic style?
Consumption of pop culture media like video games, movies and animation series has always been a primary influence. Other than that I live a pretty uneventful life so I can't say I have much impactful/relevant life experiences that influenced my style.
3) What did you have to develop, try or learn to create your works?
Discipline to keep up the habit of working on my craft
Openness to new art style and techniques
Perseverance for when work-in-progress pieces don't seem to be working out
Attention & alteration to workflow to improve efficiency
Momentum to keep moving onto the next brush stroke, next piece, next project
Internalising art principles instead of just applying them at surface level
Never succumb to dogmatic thinking
Enjoy the process!
4) Describe your dream project
Everyday my mind bombards itself with many creative urges and ideas, so I have many dream projects. One of them would be to portray our iconic local landmarks in a comfy anime aesthetic. Also, like many artists, I have an internal world of characters and story ideas which I would like to express in the form of comics, animations, etc.
5) What advice would you give to your younger self?
The internet opens up countless avenues for art so go ahead and allow yourself to pursue it, don't listen to people who have zero experience in the field yet have many definitive things to say about it.
Don't wait for your turn to do art, life will never land you in a perfect comfortable space to pursue art - so whenever you can, you take the step, you take the plunge, and you keep moving forward.
