1) Tell us about yourself and what you do

I am a Creative Designer, with over 7 years experience in the Media Agency. Currently working as a Brand Manager for a local Creative Agency, I am always fueled with passion and desire to lead and inspire in the creative scene. I used to paint on several different mediums, but leaning more towards digital art these days because of its convenience. Personally, I see art as an outlet, something to go home to after a busy day at work. Like a wife, but not really. Maybe slightly better.

2) What do you intend for people to see or feel when they view your work?

I want them to feel like it’s something they can relate to. Being a creative expression in itself, art can evoke a wide range of emotions. Even though some of my artworks tend to be a bit random, most of them really came from emotions, expressing what can’t be felt with words and paragraphs.

3) Which artists do you admire and why?

Local artists lol. Being a designer, I look up to a lot of different designers, both regionally and internationally. However, I did come from an arts background, and studied arts for the most part of my early education. Artists like Faizal Hamdan, being my former lecturer, inspire me to find what I’m really specialized in, and what I want to pursue in life and career. Took years, lots of years of figuring out, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without people like him who aim to selflessly inspire and nurture young talents.

4) First piece of artwork?

Honestly can’t recall, and not sure what defines an “artwork”. But the first painting that illustrated my own style was a painting called “Otak Ambuyat”. A coffee painting that honestly really came from experimenting (and trying to meet a last minute deadline).

5) What is the one medium/tool you can’t live without?

As of now, ProCreate on my iPad hahaha. What can’t you do with it? Literally the best drawing app (not sponsored).

6) How would you define success as an artist?

Personally, I don’t think success should be the main aim for artists. Success is subjective. As an artist, I would rather aim to leave behind something memorable, a legacy if you may. Leaving a mark on the industry that will be remembered for ages to come. Okay maybe not ages, but something I can proudly show off to my grandkids, and God willing, my great grandkids.
